We had my pre-op appointment this afternoon. The appointment was with my primary care provider’s nurse practitioner. I’d never met her before but she was very nice, as was her assistant. She asked me some medical history questions, performed a physical exam, did an EKG and ordered a metabolic panel, which I was able to have drawn in her office. That was convenient.
The appointment started about 30 minutes late and lasted a really long time, so we’re exhausted now and my muscles are tired and sore. But it went well and I should be all set for surgery.
We came home with a reward of Taco Bell for dinner, so that was satisfying.
In other news, I made myself a non-pink (black!) minimalist cancer t-shirt and today is the first day I’ve worn it. It makes me happy. And it has a special label — Rosemary & Zo. 🥰 (My grandma and my dog, for anyone who doesn’t know, neither of whom are with us anymore. 💔)

It’s occurred to me that perhaps I could design some t-shirts for my mostly ridiculously niche illnesses that others might also want to buy/wear, but during cancer treatment seems like a terrible time to try to start a business. 🤔
Now that I’ve been cleared for surgery, it should be a fairly quiet week. I don’t have any additional cancer appointments until the day before surgery, when I go to get the lymph node dye injected.
I watched a video last night on YouTube where the person said the injection was the worst part of it and that it was really painful. From what I understand, they inject the blue and/or radioactive dye into the breast, near the tumor. The person in the video said they did hers without any numbing. So we’ll see if my experience is like that. I hope not.

In the meantime, I’ll be giving myself at least a week without medical cannabis before surgery. I’ve read that it can interact with the anesthesia and I don’t want to take any chances with that. And I need to skip my blood pressure medication the night before surgery.
I also need to stop my LDN because it can keep the post-surgical meds (opioids) from working. Not sure when that needs to happen but I have a portal message in to my POTS doc to ask.
Thanks for reading. ❤️
