New Cancer Appointment, Finding Rest and Simplifying Dinners

I planned for a quiet week this week, so I can rest as much as possible before surgery. No cancer appointments. Except now I have one on Thursday with a geneticist. The geneticist will check me for genetic traits that will hopefully add to the information we have about my cancer.

I’m also still working this week. But I’m trying to rest in my downtime. The cancer (I assume) has made me extra fatigued, so the resting is good.

I’ve been working on coming up with dinner ideas that don’t require a food prep day because I don’t have the endurance for that anymore and I likely won’t regain that for some time, since cancer treatment is starting. I did my usual food prep (plus two loaves of bread) on Saturday and it pretty much flattened me. I’m also trying to think of reasonably healthy, very easy to grab and eat snack options, because right now what we have is snack size candy bars and very little self-control. 😂 If you have any super easy food ideas, please send them to me via your favorite method.

I stopped the medical cannabis today, so that’ll give me eight days without it before surgery. And that should be plenty of time to keep it from interacting with the anesthesia.

Cancer things I’ve learned in the last few days:

  • You get tattoos for radiation. Just tiny little dots so they always radiate the exact same spot(s). I’ve been saying my next tattoo would be a Zoe tattoo, but I guess it’ll actually be a radiation tattoo.
  • A lumpectomy is also called a “partial mastectomy.” I like that better. It sounds more serious. A lumpectomy sounds like a fake operation you’d do in a game or something. 😆

Eight days until surgery. I added a surgery countdown to the homepage (but please know I have no control over how it looks, lol).
